Hardships of an Artist

Just like any art piece the canvas is blank. It is waiting for you to place that pen or pencil against its surface to let your mind wonder across the frame and set your creativity in a frenzy. But, there are time when an artist doesn't have an idea of what they want to create on the canvas. No matter how bad the artist wants to release their though upon the canvas, something just isn't letting them do it! Oh no, "artist's block!"
Here and there every artist undergoes "artist's block," which is when you have no inspiration/motivation  that ignites your imagination and creativity leaving an artist with a blank canvas. Here are tips to get you motivated and eager to get back into the studio.

Changing Your Routine

Shake it up.
Stop and slow down. Feeling hurried and pressured does not help the creativity process. Take the time and go somewhere. Get outside and in nature and relax. Inspiration will find you when you are ready.
Create a few projects at a time.
If you get stuck or bored with one, you can change to something different. Put challenges in your work to keep you interested. Juggle your projects to keep you busy.
Change mediums.
If you paint, start working with clay. If you create collages, try pen and ink. Explore with new materials and use new tools. Look at shapes, rhythms and color in your life and outside your studio walls. Take a camera and just shoot what you find appealing.

Be Inspired By Places, People and Event

Research intensely on a subject that you want to create.
Go to the library or book store. Visit a big book store and go to the art or photography books section. Sit on the floor and peruse to your heart's content.

Guiness World Records: 1 Minute Breakers

This is a motion graphic that I created call “1 Minute Breakers.” I got the inspiration from reading the Guinness World Records and the three records that attracted me was; “the most football goals punted from middle field in 1 minute, most basketball free throws in 1 minute, and most head spins in 1 minute.”  I wanted the theme of this project to be fun, active and animated because the individuals who set and attempted to set these records did it for fun, not as a competition. The software that I used to construct the project was Adobe Illustrator CS6 and Adobe After Effects CS6.

I used Adobe Illustrator CS6 for designing the visual elements in the project and their positioning for presentation. All of the visual elements were drawn up as vectors and i filled in the negative space with gradient texture plug-in existing in the program. Later, I imported the Illustrator file into Adobe After Effects CS6 where I implemented motion graphics. By imbedding warm colors in the background I wanted to establish a welcoming feel.
