I was creating a four-to-five second commercial motion
graphic piece that I composited and inspired by culinary arts. The idea of
making a commercial came to mind from a fellow student that majored in baking
and pastry at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. I was curious to know exactly
what it is that the students do within the major. I thought it would be pretty cool to make a
motion graphic project on the major. So,
for a few hours I did research on the style of design that is incorporated with
food networks in their commercials to get an idea of how to create the project.
Soon, I came across TLC Network’s commercial that peaked my interest.
I received a handful of raw footage that had copyrights from
the TLC Network channel. To construct
the project I used Adobe After Effects Creative Suite 6, implemented color
correction to the video footage. For the text to animate I utilized their
opacity, position and key framing options for the project. I created the TLC
channel logo by using Cinema 4D, which is highly used 3-dimensional modeling
software produced by MAXON Computer GmbH in Germany. Also, for the first two
seconds of the motion graphic I used the “Hue/Saturation” for color correction
within the “Affect” tab in After Effects to give that salmon pink color.
